Course Description
In this course, instructional time focuses on two critical areas: (1) representing and comparing whole numbers, initially with sets of objects; (2) describing shapes and space. More learning time in Kindergarten should be devoted to number sense than to other topics.
Grade Level(s): Kindergarten
Related Priority Standards (State &/or National): K-12 Mathematics Missouri Learning Standards
Essential Questions
- Does this problem make sense?
- Does my approach make sense?
- Does my model make sense?
- Does my answer make sense?
- Does my argument make sense?
- Can I use my process/solution to solve another problem?
- What are numbers?
- How do mathematicians use numbers and numerals to communicate?
- How do we count?
- Why do we count?
