• Course Description

    Students taking the Sixth Grade Music course will build upon skills learned in elementary school music while deepening their appreciation of music and music literacy.  Students will use GarageBand to compose and arrange a song on their iPad.

    Unit: Performance and Participation - Individual and Ensemble

    • Skills include tone, balance, blend, vowel unification, intonation, diction, and mechanics.

    Unit: Music Literacy

    • Music literacy includes rhythm accuracy, pitch accuracy, and understanding of key music terminology.

    Unit: Music Appreciation (Listening Literacy)

    • This unit includes listening to and developing an appreciation of various musical styles and genres, and exploring music of historical and cultural significance.
