ABOUT NAMED AWARDS
The Kirkwood School District Foundation (KSDF) Named Awards program is one of many ways we enrich the lives of Kirkwood students. These awards are endowed scholarships set up by donor families to be awarded to Kirkwood students.
Our application cycle opens around winter break and closes in early to mid-February. Applicants are reviewed, interviewed, and chosen by the KSDF Named Awards Committee and announced in early April. The award winners are honored at our Named Awards Ceremony in the Kirkwood High School Library in late April/early May.
What is an “endowed scholarship?” An endowed scholarship has been established by a donor and invested with the foundation’s endowment. The goal is to award this fund in perpetuity, spending only the interest accrued in a given year, not the principal, leaving a lifelong legacy for the donor family and an annual award to deserving KHS students.
Endowed Named Awards can be established with an initial investment of $25,000 or more; this donation threshold is set as a minimum with a goal of awarding at least a $1,000 award from the interest on the fund annually. Funds with a higher initial donation may award more accordingly.
If your family is interested in leaving a legacy with a KSDF Named Award, please get in touch: namedawards@kirkwoodfoundation.org / 314-213-6121.
