• Class of 1960 – 60th Reunion (09/24/21 – 09/25/21) - CANCELLED

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the cancellation of our reunion. With a great deal of interest, the reunion coordinators have been watching the advance of the Delta variant of the covid virus as it inundates the US, as well as other variants that are running rampant through Europe and Africa. Of some concern is the effectiveness of the current vaccine against these variants. The infection rate in the state of Missouri is also a concern.

Adhering to science-based facts while filtering out politically motivated actions is difficult, but it now appears evident that a large group of unmasked seniors, many of whom having to travel great distances, will be exposed to more than a moderate risk. That risk must be tempered by the enjoyment we would derive from spending 2 ½ hours on both Friday and Saturday with our classmates.

After consulting with healthcare professionals in our class as well as relatives who are face to face diagnosing and treating this virus, we have decided to delay our reunion one more year.

The Alumni Office will refund registration fees in the next two weeks. The $25 for the Memory book will be retained as we plan on publishing and shipping the book within the next couple of months.

Risk assessment is always difficult, and many times not addressed properly. In this case the decision has been made to err on the side of caution to protect classmates, family, and friends.

The reunion coordinators who planned our 60th for over a year together, are less than pleased to cancel our reunion. Those of us who have been involved with the coordination of our reunion feel, almost without reservation, that this is the wisest choice.

Stay safe, stay well, and we all look forward to gathering with our KHS Class of 1960 classmates in the foreseeable future.

    Regards,

    Steve Wilson
