Prop R Update May 24, 2022: KSD to issue additional Prop R bonds as construction continues on projects to increase capacity in schools
At its regular meeting on Monday, May 23, the Kirkwood School Board of Education approved the issuance of $5 million in Prop R bonds. These bonds are a part of the original $61 million in bonds approved by voters in April 2021.

Prop R Update 3/17/22 - Updated Projected Timeline for Prop R Construction
The Kirkwood School District recently provided updated information on the projected timeline for renovations and construction funded through Prop R. The District is working to lower construction costs by extending the target completion date for projects. At this time, this will affect the estimated construction completion date at North Kirkwood Middle School, Nipher Middle School, Kirkwood High School and Tillman Elementary School.

Prop R Update 12/08/22 - Information on KHS/Prop R-Related Improvements
As promised with Prop R, the school district is planning to add 15 classrooms to KHS. A new building addition will contain 10 classrooms and 5 classrooms will also be added through interior renovations to the existing main office and grade level offices. A new welcome center and main office will be built on the Dougherty Ferry side of the campus. Per the City of Kirkwood's code of ordinances, the District would be required to add 90 parking spaces, six for each additional classroom. Based on the initial plans, the District is proposing to add only 21 additional spaces. This requires a variance request through the City of Kirkwood. The District's variance request has been set for a public hearing before the City of Kirkwood's Board of Adjustment on January 10, 2022 at 7 pm at Kirkwood City Hall. The public can submit written comments to the City of Kirkwood and the Board of Adjustment and they can make public comments at the meeting on Monday.

Prop R Update 9/13/21
The Board of Education awarded a contract to build two classrooms on the northwest side of Westchester Elementary School. to J.E. Foster Building Company was awarded the bid. Construction should be completed by January 31, 2022. The rest of the construction projects planned for Westchester will be completed in the summer of 2023.

Prop R Update 8/30/21
The Board of Education awarded a contract to install ADA ramps at the front entrance of North Glendale and Robinson Elementary schools. The projects will be completed by to Bombshell Construction Company. The ramps should be completed in October.

Prop R Update 7/12/21
The Board of Education approved SCI Engineering Inc. for construction materials testing and special inspection services for the Prop R projects.
