STEAMFest Science Fair

  • Overview

STEAMFest is the Kirkwood School District’s science fair to pre-qualify eligible projects to advance to the annual Academy of Science St. Louis Science Fair.  Students in grades Kindergarten through 12 are invited to share and celebrate their STEAM projects.

All participating students must complete a Research Plan (and parent-signed Safety Form) and submit by email to for pre-approval by January 13, 2021.  The body of their email MUST contain their name, school, grade and teacher’s name.

No late submissions will be accepted.  All submissions MUST be sent from student’s email.

All virtual projects should be submitted in PowerPoint and limited to ten pages.  Your logbook should be submitted in Word and should include your pre-approved Research Plan and parent-signed Safety Form.  Including those two forms, the logbook is limited to ten pages.

Keynote and Pages will not be accepted.  This is due to the Academy of Science St. Louis Science Fair accepting only Word and PowerPoint or PDF’s.  Both Word and PowerPoint are available for student download from the Kirkwood School District portal.

Upon receiving Kirkwood’s email approval of the Research Plan, students are ready to begin their project.  This Research Plan and the signed Safety Form will become part of the student’s logbook. Together they are worth 10 POINTS of your score!!

Completed electronic projects will be submitted to with the logbook for judging.  This must be done no later than February 24, 2021.   All submissions MUST be sent from student’s email.

Kirkwood will announce project placement online by March 10, 2021.  Projects qualified to advance to Academy of Science St. Louis Science Fair will be registered online by the student with their website by March 10, 2021.
