On Thursday, Dec. 9, St. Louis County rescinded their mask mandate in response to a recent court order out of Jefferson City. The mask requirement in the Kirkwood School District remains in place and is not affected by the county’s action.
The requirement in the Kirkwood School District is independently approved by the Board of Education and is not contingent on county health orders. Since August, the Board has reviewed and approved COVID-related health and safety plans at their regular business meetings. Most recently, the district’s health and safety mitigation strategies were approved on Nov. 29.
At the Board of Education meeting on Dec. 13, we will review our current health and safety practices as well as discuss potential changes and updates. You may view meetings of the Board of Education online at kirkwoodschools.org/virtualboe. After the meeting, we will also share any decisions or updates.
The Kirkwood School District does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, religion, age, national origin, handicap, or disability in admissions to, or treatment or employment in its programs and activities.
