Katie Meyers Named Emerson Excellence Teaching Award Recipient
Kirkwood High School teacher Katie Meyers has been named an Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award recipient. She is one of 86 teachers from across the St. Louis metropolitan area who are being recognized this year through the Emerson program as examples of truly outstanding educational excellence. The annual program recognizes St. Louis area instructors, selected by their schools’ administrators, for their accomplishments and dedication to their students and the teaching profession.
Meyers was named Kirkwood School District teacher of the year in March 2022. She was selected as one of 34 Missouri Regional Teachers of the Year from around the state in August, and one of seven state finalists in September.
The Excellence in Teaching Awards program began in St. Louis in 1989 and is sponsored annually by Emerson, the global technology and software company. It is one of the St. Louis region’s most recognized teacher recognition program, helping the St. Louis community express its collective admiration and gratitude for educators’ dedication to teaching our area’s students.
For her recognition, Katie received a “Outstanding Achievement in the Classroom” certificate and an engraved crystal apple from Tiffany & Co.
