Groundbreaking ceremonies for construction at Tillman Elementary and Westchester Elementary on May 23 

The Kirkwood School District will officially break ground on construction work at Tillman Elementary School at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 23. Immediately following, KSD will officially break ground on construction work at Westchester Elementary School. Approximate start time is 9:45 a.m.

• At Tillman, construction will result in eight additional grade level classrooms, a new art classroom, a new library/media center, a new wellness and gymnasium facility, and the conversion of the existing library into new counseling offices.
  
  

·       At Westchester, Phase II construction will result in 8 additional grade level classrooms, a new library/media center, expansion of cafeteria, and conversions of existing spaces into areas for personalized learning including academic intervention space. Phase I construction included a new art and music classroom.

These projects are two of many made possible thanks to the community’s support of Prop R, which was approved by voters last spring. Funds generated from Prop R will provide additional classrooms, security upgrades and accessibility improvements at all schools in the Kirkwood School District.
