Kirkwood Racquetball 7th in the Nation!
Kirkwood Racquetball was represented by 24 student athletes in the 2020 High School Racquetball National Championships in Portland, Oregon February 29-March 1.
The squad, which included 15 freshmen, placed 7th in the Nation!
Ten athletes earned medals, for a total of 16 medals.
- Tyler Kraichely and Nicholas Whittington placed 1st in #2 red doubles
- Chris Plants placed 3rd in #1 white singles
- Nicholas Whittington placed 3rd in #3 red singles
- Theo Paradise placed 3rd in #4 red singles
- Tyler Kraichely placed 2nd in #5 red singles
- Zach West placed 3rd in #6 blue singles
- Grace Schmidt and Zoe Browning placed 3rd in #2 red doubles
- Kate Domian placed 3rd in #1 blue singles
- Gabbie Roseman placed 2nd in #2 blue singles
- Zoe Browning placed 3rd in #3 red singles
- Grace Schmidt placed 3rd in #4 gold singles
- Avery Oppermann placed 3rd in #5 blue singles
- Chris Plants and Zoe Browning placed 3rd in #2 red mixed doubles
Other highlights
- Braden Allaria, who was seeded 81st out of 112 boys in his division, made a fantastic run into the Sweet 16. Braden won the most gold matches out of all Kirkwood players.
- Gracie LeGrand played 26 games, which was the most on the team. Five of her 10 matches went to a tiebreaker!
- The Kirkwood player with the best tournament record was Tyler Kraichely, who compiled an 8-3 record across his divisions.
