Governor Parson Presents Proclamation to Kirkwood High School
On Thursday, September 29, Kirkwood High School (KHS) welcomed two special guests. Governor Mike Parson visited KHS and was joined by Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Commissioner Margie Vandeven. Parson and Vandeven both presented KHS a Missouri Proclamation to KHS students, staff and Kirkwood School District Board of Education members.
KHS is one of only eight Missouri schools to earn the National Blue Ribbon.
KHS held a pep-rally style assembly and Parson addressed the crowd with remarks regarding the hard work and dedication it takes to earn National Blue Ribbon recognition. “It’s impressive when you come here,” said Parson. “You see the administration and what the school is all about. I hope there’s a school down the road that says, ‘Hey, I want to be like Kirkwood High School’.”
After the assembly, Dr. Mike Havener gave a tour to Parson of KHS and construction underway thanks to Prop R work made possible by the support of the community.
KHS will receive the National Blue Ribbon Award during a national ceremony to honor Blue Ribbon Schools in Washington, D.C., in November, 2022.
